A brief mention on what is covered in the Category C (Day Skipper – local waters) Course
(Wed-Sun/Sat-Wed):
- Safe handling of craft at sea
- Launching and Beaching through the Surf
- Safety & Emergency Procedures
- Aspects of Boat Handling and Anchoring
- Ropes and Knots
- Boating Lingo (Nautical Terms)
- Radio Procedures
- Navigation
- Weather & Environment
- Legalities
- Basic First Aid
- Safety Appliances & Equipment
- Motors
- Rules of the road, as well as attain enough boating knowledge to successfully complete the
theory examination.
On completion you will have the required number of practical launches and sea time to
qualify for the Certificate of Competence, Category C, Day Skipper – Local Waters.

Surf Launching
Dive Skipper - should you have a Dive Master / Dive Instructor / Commercial Diver (issued by
Department of Labour) qualification – bring 2 x CERTIFIED copies of the front & back of the card.

Excluded from the course:
• 2 x certified copies of your ID Book / Passport
• 6 x passport size ID photos (surname & ID number written on the back of each photo)
• 2 x certified copies of your dive card - front & back
(Dive Master / Dive Instructor / Commercial Diver)
• Eyesight Certificate (page provided in the paperwork pack)
• Doctor’s Certificate (page provided in the paperwork pack)
• Accommodation ; Meals & Transport to and from the lecture venue
The cost of the course is R5335 (incl. VAT) per person, we require 50% deposit to secure your
place (using your name and course date as a reference).
The balance will be due on/before the first day of the course.
Once you have made the deposit/payment, kindly send a copy of the confirmation, along
with your contact number & postal/physical address, in order for the pre-course paperwork &
manual to be sent to you.

07h00 – 17h00 every day
We start each day at 07h00 with lectures, have lunch, and then go out to sea (some days this may change due to weather) and should be finished by 17h00.
