Welcome to Calypso Dive Centre 

We are a vibrant, busy, but friendly dive centre right here at uShaka Marine World, Durban, for you to come and join our divers exploring the magical wonders of the underwater world. You too may become one of our divers involved in the discovery of the most exciting, stimulating environment and the diverse range of marine life make the Oceans that cover 70% of the earths surface a completely different world.

We have a wide range of products available in our Retail Dive Shop, stocked to supply every divers need, from the complete diver equipment package to a fill of an air tank from our mixed gas filling station, we are here to fulfill your needs. 

We have an in house service workshop, our technicians provide maintenance and repairs for nearly all makes of popular diving equipment. We are a PADI 5 Star Instructor Development Centre.

All of our teaching staff have completed the rigorous training to certify as PADI Scuba Instructors. We have a very experienced team of instructors ready to take you discovering the under water world. Our diver training school, offers the entire range of diver training courses from teaching people to dive for the very first time, to courses teaching the latest mixed gas technical rebreather apparatus. We also train instructors. We have received PADI Award for Education on more than one occasion. If you wish to start diving, then please contact us to join one of our Discover Scuba programs.

Our First Aid training is conducted by qualified instructors, Emergency First Responder, Caring for Children, and First Aid at Work courses are available plus in addition, specialised courses in Advanced Oxygen Administration and the use of Electronic Automated Defibulators.

Once our divers are trained, we have a friendly, active dive club for you to enjoy. The variety of activity ranges from local daily dive outings, to weekends and weeks away plus many social evenings for you to bring along your non diving partners and friends to enjoy. We have two boats,  8,2 meter ducks with 4 stroke engines.

Our Dive Centre

uShaka Marine World in Durban, South Africa, opened its doors in May 2004. Housing the 5th largest aquarium in the world, this water-oriented Theme Park has a wide variety of entertainment to offer to its visitors and it is within this exciting environment that Calypso Dive and Adventure Center is located.

Calypso is one of only three National Geographic 5 star IDC Centers in the country, supplying the local and International diving community with a professional Training, Retail and Charter operation.

Calypso is owned and operated by Patrick and Celeste Voorma. We are both passionate about diving and what we have to offer our clients. We have been involved in several successful businesses in the past but have chosen to combine our passions with business.

Our mission is to be the preferred Instructor training centre in South Africa. We will provide enjoyable dive experiences and training opportunities for enthusiasts whilst maintaining the highest levels in diver education and diver safety, and promote the protection of our underwater environment through creating diver awareness. We will supply an extensive retail outlet with a service centre and professionally run dive charter to provide a healthy environment for personal and professional growth of all our dive training candidates.
