You might be certified to blend gas, but do you want to teach others to provide gas mixtures?  If so, the PADI Gas Blender Instructor course might be just what you're looking for.  The PADI Gas Blender Instructor course is one of the most informative and comprehensive programmes available, incorporating instructional philosophies and course goals that directly address the demanding nature of gas blending.

Why PADI Gas Blender?

The demand for Tecnical diving and enriched Air diving has grown. More people are diving with Enriched Air Nitrox and this means the demand for Enriched Air Nitrox fills is also increasing.  However, there needs to be someone qualified to administer these fills to meet this demand.  This is where the PADI Gas Blender course comes in. 

It can result in one of two certifications:  PADI Gas Blender or PADI Trimix Blender.

Baited diving is becoming one of the most popular forms of diving in SA particularly in the Aliwal Shoal area on South Coast. It involves attracting sharks to a dive group by chumming the water from the dive boat above the group or lowering a punctured tin with bloody tuna bits inside the dive group. It’s big business. Divers opposed to baited dives say the baiting causes the sharks to act aggressively and unpredictably, and puts other dive groups in the area at risk.

PADI Self-Reliant Diver

The PADI Self-Reliant Diver course is a new PADI distinctive specialty that aims to recognise and accept the role of the buddy system and its contributions to diver safety while identifying and developing self-reliance and independence while diving. There are two reasons for an experienced diver to take the Self-Reliant diver course:

I will be running a PADI Tec 40,45 and 50 course followed by the Tec Deep Instructors course over this period. If you are wanting to do the course as a diver or are an Instructor looking to be able to teach these courses and get the teaching experience then this would be a great opportunity.

Calypso Dive and Adventure is based at uShaka Marine World, Durban. We have a purpose built IDC centre, state of the art lecture room facilities, a heated swimming pool and on site accommodation.

We also use the uShaka Marine World Open Ocean and Lagoon Aquariums for training. We have a shore entry house reef and access to over 30 dive sites including five wrecks and Shark Dives.
